The Practice is the Point
What drew you to hot power yoga?
Was it the sweat? The improved flexibility? The endorphin rush? The challenge and grit?
Organically over time, those shiny reasons often evolve and shift. The”yoga” starts to take effect and the reasons we came are often times not the reasons we stay. Those are just the entry points to realizing that the practice can actually be enough and we stop searching for the “results.”
Autotelic is the fancy word for this. The reward is in the doing.
Here at PPY, we have designed the practice to incite purpose and fulfillment, separate from “outcome” or results. The act of flowing in synchronicity provides a feeling of intrinsic belonging through collective effort. The breath is designed to keep you totally in the moment. The familiar sequencing is letting your brain downshift from novelty or anticipation. All of these factors contribute to an experience that can’t be measured by calories burned or perfecting the poses.
The experience is the point.
The absorption and full immersion in the current moment is the point.
The non-seeking is the point.
The practice is the point.
